The WWF recently estimated that 2/3 of species populations will be gone by 2020. Apart from the ecological catastrophe, scientific opportunities may be lost forever. It is imperative that we begin the archival process of species, especially megafauna, so that we can preserve information about their brains at the highest fidelity possible with current technology. Such information may also help conservation efforts by determining how brains adapt to specific environments, especially in the face of habitat loss.
